Biography: Mario Giampietro recently retired from his position as ICREA Research Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is currently associated with the European Centre for Governance of Complexity in Norway. His research focuses on the integrated evaluation of sustainability issues, using complex systems theory. He developed the Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism (MuSIASEM) methodology. He has authored over 150 publications, including six books. He leads the Bioeconomy in Transition Research Group at Unitelma Sapienza University. His work includes EU projects like STAR-ProBio, contributing to sustainability assessment tools. Prior to the conference, a Summer School will be held on June 2, 2025, at the same location. It is designed to facilitate dialogue and exchange among PhD students, focusing on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to ecological bioeconomy. Objectives
Participants will also have the opportunity to present their research at the conference sessions on June 3 and 4, 2025.
